Healthy at Home
Due to current events and the spread of the Cornovirus (Covid-19) we have been told to STAY AT HOME!
So how do we stay healthy whilst staying at home?
In this blog I will be giving you tips on how to keep your health and fitness (physical and mental) a priority.
1. Find a workout plan
Workout plans are easily accessible - we have the world at our fingertips. Find a plan that suits you, your needs, the equipment you have access to and most importantly one that you enjoy!
2. Eat healthily
They say ‘we are what we eat’ and I couldn’t agree more. Paying attention to the foods you are consuming will not only help you to look better, it will make you feel better too! We need to help our bodies stay healthy by eating a variety of vitamins and minerals, these will in turn help strengthen our immune systems. Which if you ask me, is vital at this time.
3. Get enough sleep
The recommended amount is 8 hours per night, some people need more or less. Why is sleep important?
Because it gives your body time to rest and repair.
Sleep is vital for brain function and physical health - a lack of sleep can lead to a lowered immune system, increased stress on the body and poor mental health.
Catch those zzz before it catches up with you.
4. HYDRATE
The body is 70% water - it needs it to function well. Feeling tired and lethargic? Did you drink enough water today?
The recommended amount is 2 litres a day - and do I even need to go into the benefits this will have on your skin?!
5. Create a new routine
There is a reason that from the day you were born people have been encouraging you into routines; sleep routines, school routines, work routines. They help us to be productive and get things done.
At the moment people are staying home; some working from home and home schooling their children. Building a routine that works for you and everyone in your care, will help you to stay motivated to GET THE JOB DONE.
6. Personal Hygiene
It’s easy to sit around in your pyjamas when you’re at home all day and before you know it, a week has passed. Make a conscious effort to get up in a morning and follow your usual personal hygiene routine. Wash your face, get a shower, get dressed!
Small acts of self care equal a happier human
Hey – and maybe it’s time to start looking into a new skin care routine?
7. Slow down
Learn to take a step back and slow down sometimes. Now more than ever is this important!
The news and social media - everyone - is rushing around panicked. I don’t blame them as it’s an extremely scary time. However learning to slow down from time to time and taking a break can have a huge positive effect on your mental health.
Meditate, yoga, colouring, painting - or you could try picking up a book. Anything that allows you to step away.
8. Separate work from home
Whilst working from home during this period of time try to separate the two. You can do this by setting up your work space in a room that you do not relax or sleep in. This will help to switch from home mode to work mode and vice versa.
Also make sure you have a start and finish time, it’s easy to carrying on working when you don’t have you typical surroundings. Always make sure you stop work at the same time each day, to give yourself the downtime you need and deserve.
9. Do something you always wanted to do
Have you ever wanted to learn a new language? Try yoga? Learn to cook? Grow fruit and veg at home?
Now is the time! When you find yourself at home with time on your hands, use it to do something that interests you. With everything just one click away, you can learn new skills and find new passions. You got this peachy!
10. Plan
Last but not least… Have a plan. A plan for the future. Take your time to plan out something you are going to do when this is over. Plan that holiday! Plan your new business venture! Get excited about the prospects of what the future may bring. :-)
