Client Q+A Lockdown Edition- Beth
Today we will be talking to Beth and getting the inside scoop on how the peaches are doing during Lockdown.
Beth:“I literally started training with Amy the week of lockdown being announced on the Friday 20thMarch. I have only had two gym sessions with Amy due to COVID19 cutting our face-to-face training short, but honestly? I’ve never felt as fit in my life thanks to Amy”
Amy: Before the Lockdown what did your training routine look like?
Beth:Before lockdown, I tried to maintain a healthy lifestyle by changing my eating habits and exercising frequently. However, you wouldn’t ever catch me in the actual gym weights area, as I would normally be upstairs doing a class because this is where I felt most comfortable, in a group environment. My go to classes would be Body Pump and Box Fit. I had no idea where to start with weights or doing exercises on my own.
Amy: What does your training look like now?
Beth: My training has changed a lot due to COVID19, but I think it’s for the better. Now, I train twice a week with Amy over FaceTime where we cover both upper body and lower body exercises. She has taught me a wide variety of exercises to perform with weights and resistance bands, or anything we can get our hands on as I don’t have much equipment at home. I am doing a lot more weight training and feel much stronger for it already. I am still doing some cardio by going on weekly runs, but not as much as I would have done before lockdown.
Amy: What are you doing at home that keeps your motivated?
Beth: Well firstly, I try to make sure I get enough sleep and wake up around a similar time to what I would normally do if I was going to work, this makes me feel as though I’m still in a “normal” routine. Monday – Friday, I ensure I do at least 30 minutes exercise in the morning as this really gives me an energy boost and sets me up for the day. I also write down the tasks I wish to complete in a day as well as my exercise routines because for some reason if it is down on paper it means I’ll do it!!
Amy: Have you got any tips that you could share with us for training at home?
Beth:Yes of course!
Tip 1: Get enough sleep and try to get up in the morning. For me, if I’m up then I’m up and will feel more motivated to get things done.
Tip 2: Write down your workout. This really helps me and it makes me want to complete it rather than just making up exercises on the spot because then I have something to finish.
Tip 3: Definitely play some good music. I struggle to work out in silence. I’ve got to have a good playlist on with motivational music to keep me going. My go to at the moment is Lose control by Medusa
Amy: How has having a Personal Trainer helped to keep you on track during lockdown?
Beth:Having Amy to help me during lockdown has been fantastic. There has definitely been times where I’ve thought, “omg I don’t want to work out, what’s the point, I feel so lazy!”
But then once it gets to 4pm and I get that facetime call, I know Amy will push me and that will give me a motivational boost I need. We’ve also spoken a lot about my macronutrients and calorie intake. What’s working and what is not. Sharing progress pictures and we’ve even set a goal together which as helped to motivate me even more. Having an end goal in sight is really helping to keep me on track and not binge eat or skip workouts. I know what I want, I’m adamant to get it!
Beth had the honor of being the peach that I was training when we found out that the gym closure announcement had been made. I have to say I’m super proud of this girl she is an inspiration, she has maintained her positivity and kept her goals the top of her priorities to help her handle the lockdown.
Thank you for being a happy bright shiny light throughout and I cant wait to get back in the gym with you so we can push for the next steps in your masterplan :)
